BREAKING|MALI: 29 soldiers killed in alleged jihadist attack on military base in northeast of Mali

One of the armed groups active in the area and believed to be linked with al-Qaeda or the Islamic State (ISIS) carried out an attack in the town of Tarkint, north of the city of Gao, the capital of Gao region, Mali, a military source said on Friday. It has confirmed the deaths of dozens of Mali soldiers and said that some troops had been left wounded.

According to the sources, at least 29 Malian soldiers have been killed in an attack on an army base in the country’s northeast.

There was nw immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, the deadliest against the Malian army this year, in the town of Tarkint, north of the city of Gao.
