ZAMBIA: Authorities ordered all educational institutions to be closed this week

Zambian authorities are to shut down all the educational institutions including schools, colleges, and universities effective on Friday, March 20, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that has affected most parts of the world.

The Head of the Health Ministry, Chitalu Chilufya, confirmed the government had come to the decision to close all learning institutions “in a bid to prevent the outbreak of the coronavirus that has claimed 7,130 lives worldwide with over 181,000 cases recorded.”

Chilufya briefed the journalists saying the ministry has so far trained over 500 health workers in preparation to treat COVID-19.

Chilufya says the nation will be guided when the learning institutions will reopen.
