SA at highest risk of importing coronavirus

According to a new study “Preparedness and vulnerability of African countries against importations of COVID-19: a modelling study” published on 20 February, South Africa is among the countries with the highest importation risk (Egypt, Algeria, and South Africa) with moderate to high capacity to respond to coronavirus outbreak.

The research highlights that resources, intensified surveillance, and capacity building should be urgently prioritised in the countries with the highest probability of importing the virus.
