Hijackers torched stolen car to cover up crime in Pietermaritzburg

The KwaZulu-Natal police department has opened an investigation into a case of hijacking and causing property damage after a car was stolen and set on fire in Grange in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.

According to KwaZulu-Natal police, the car was stolen from Pentridge Road in the area.

A video captured by a cellphone camera and which has gone viral on social media on Friday shows the car that appears to be a Chevrolet sedan burning on the street of Grange.

Local services including police and the fire department were on the scene to address the incident.
