Ukrainian Boeing 737 could have been shot down by American drone

A Boeing 737 of the Ukraine International Airlines could have been destroyed by an UAV belonging to the United States that took a civilian board for the plane of the Iranian government which was their target. They allegedly wanted to attack military bases at night. This information is stated by one source from the Iranian military.

The Boeing 737 crashed 8 minutes after leaving the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport. According to the Iranian Press TV channel, there were 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board. The Ukrainian media informs that most of the passengers were from Canada – 73, 71 were from Iran, 8 from Sweden, 6 from Afghanistan, 4 from Germany, and 3 from the UK. There were also 2 Ukrainians and about 13 crew members from the Ukraine on board.

Iran has already announced that technical problems most likely caused this accident. However, an Iranian military source claimed the plane could have been shot down by an American drone.

“The United States had to destroy our government plane with persons on board responsible for the attack on their bases. But by mistake, an ordinary civilian airliner was shot down. In our view, this version is considered to be the main. Moreover, before the plane crash the MQ-1 Predator UAV, which is now in service only in the US military, was detected by tracking means. When there is evidence of this version, it will be announced by the country’s leadership,” the source stated.

As he said, the United States began hunting the entire leadership of Iran, including the leadership of the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.

On December 29, the Pentagon attacked the targets of the Shiite group Hezbollah in Iraq and Syria. The US War Department explained that it was a response to the Shiite “attacks” on an Iraqi base located near Kirkuk, where an American had been killed. After that, the Shiites began to assault the American Embassy in Iraq.

On January 3, the US reported on a special operation during which Iranian General Qasem Suleimani had been killed near Baghdad’s airport. The airstrike on the convoy, where a military commander was presented, was carried out on Trump’s personal order. According to the White House version, the operation was characterised as a defensive one, as it was allegedly intended to protect the American military located in the Middle East.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has promised to avenge Suleimani’s murder. In a telephone call with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Iranian head of the Foreign Ministry Mohammad Javad Zarif called the attack a manifestation of terrorism on the part of the United States.
