A seven-metre long serpent has been found curled up after being allegedly dumped by its owners in the Mutare CBD, the capital of Manicaland province.
The python was placed in a sack and covered with several red pieces of cloth.
According to the Mutare residents who discovered the serpent, they saw a couple in a silver Toyota sedan leaving the seven-metre long python behind the Mutare Motoring Club and fleeing the scene.
Then someone had dragged the snake into the Central Business District where it was captured and eventually taken to the Mutare Central Police Station.
Since then, the police had apprehended a 21-year-old woman and took her to the station for questioning over the case.
“We have arrested a suspect over the case and we are still investigating the matter,” Officer Commanding Mutare Central Police Chief Superintendent Florence Marume confirmed.
