Today, on December 5, a helicopter crashed shortly after a take-off in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal. There was only a pilot inside the machine, he died on the scene, a rescue service official confirmed.
The crashed light aircraft was still on fire when the rescue brigade arrived at the crash scene, IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst advised.
“IPSS, police and the LenMed air medical crew are standing off at a helicopter crash scene in Eshowe,” he said.
He confirmed the pilot’s death in his interview.
“Unfortunately, the pilot sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of IPSS paramedics. The aircraft is still in flames. Our condolences go out to the family,” Herbst declared.
Some say the pilot had been spraying pesticide over a farm in the area.
