A prison guard has been detained by the Northern Cape police on an accusation of having allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman in the beginning of this week.
Northern Cape police official Brig Mohale Ramatseba commented on the incident saying that the correctional officer was an employee at the Tswelopele Maximum Correctional Centre in Kimberley.
According to the investigation details, the young woman was on her way home when she was approached by the unknown man in the early hours of Monday morning. The villain overpowered the victim threatening to kill her and then raped the woman.
Next morning, the police arrested the man and he was placed into custody pending the court hearing in the Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
