The residents of a village in Nangade district were under an attack of unknown armed men when three civilians were killed and two others sustained gunshot wounds last Wednesday.
The attackers rode into the Litingina village at about 9pm when the local families were already going to bed. As per the eyewitnesses, there was a sporadic shooting in the air as the invaders broke into the village, giving the villagers a chance to flee the scene.
It is unclear at the moment what circumstances led to the killing of three as well as no information about how the other two were wounded. The villagers have only described the panic in the village in general terms.
The damage caused to the settlement was assessed: a few houses, shops and two trucks loaded with cashews had been torched during the attack.
