An Upington school has suspended a 16-year-old student accused of having stabbed a fellow learner to death, the Cape Town police confirmed.
According to the officials, the suspect caused several stab wounds to the 14-year-old girl. The victim died of her wounds while being rushed to hospital.
“The motive for the attack had not yet been established,” Northern Cape Department of Education’s Geoffrey van der Merwe claimed.
His department has deployed a special support team to provide counselling sessions for those directly and indirectly affected.
The circumstances around the incident are yet to be revealed.
