A 7cm long parasite has been extracted from the eye’s white of a male patient in the Bharuch hospital in Gujarat state in western India.
Jasubhai Patel, 70, told the medics who were assessing and questioning the man that he had been bitten by a dog 12 years ago.
According to British tabloid Mirror, Patel complained of pain and itching in the right eye for years. He sought medical help on several occasions, but never got a diagnosis.
However, upon arriving at the Narayan Hospital and Research Center in Bharuch, he was attended by ophthalmologist Milan Panchal. After a microscopic investigation, the practitioner found a writhing parasite in the white part of the patient’s eyeball.
