A Swiss tourist was admitted to a Johannesburg hospital after his car had crashed into a giraffe. The animal fell onto his vehicle causing injuries to four car occupants on Sunday in the Kruger National Park. The driver was severely injured.
“The last update was that he was still in a critical condition and that he had been transferred,” SA National Parks (SANParks) spokesman Ike Phaahla confirmed on Monday.
It is believed that, on Sunday morning, the giraffe stepped into the road, getting in the way of an oncoming kombi carrying 13 passengers. The giraffe then fell on top of the rented safari vehicle the Swiss man was driving.
Sadly, the beautiful animal died on impact.
