Everyone knows that South Africans are not indifferent to wild dogs, but these photos will definitely make you weep at their loveliness. Fifteen wild dogs were flown from Kalahari to Mozambique’s Gorongosa National Park by the Bateleurs aviation company and the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
This is the second relocation under the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s project that is helping the park to recover from decades of civil war that wiped out entire animal populations.
“Wildlife is now thriving in Gorongosa, with numbers of species and animals having made a strong comeback. With the abundance of herbivores, the natural next step is the return of large carnivores. Wild dogs are one of the continent’s most at-risk carnivores, and are listed by the IUCN as Endangered,” the Trust said in a statement.
