The Bulawayo police officers have detained a murder suspect minutes before his release from the prison. He was serving a sentence handled for a different crime.
Ignatius Mehluli Mhlanga, 25, with two accomplices has allegedly murdered a flea market security guard. The crime was committed in 2013. The suspect later skipped the country for South Africa.
The accused accomplices, aged 30 and 35, were sentenced to life behind bars.
Mhlanga had been at large for six years but the police officers managed to detain him for a different crime. He was sentenced to nine-month imprisonment. He was arrested on murder charges moments before his release from the jail.
