A 26-year-old woman from Belhar has been detained by the police officers. She is suspected of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
According to police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk, the woman was detained by the Anti-Gang Unit members in Extension 13.
The police officers received information about the woman with an illegal firearm. During the investigation, the woman was identified and located.
The officers found no firearm in her house but some evidence was found in her cellphone. As a result, the officers seized a 357 Magnum Taurus revolver, 9mm Glock magazine and 11 x 9mm rounds.
The woman is expected to make her appearance in court soon.
