A ZANU PF district chairman made his appearance in court. He was suspected of defrauding two people. He received US$342 in botched land deals.
Harmony Mavesere, 40, pleaded not guilty of fraud.
According to the reports, in the first case, Mavesere demanded $2 050 as a payment for the land before the complainant paid $1 082 to his account.
Mavesere was paid an additional $100. He failed to fulfill his promise to sell an A1 farm in the Singapore area.
Using the same modus operandi, Mavesere received money from another man and never sold the land to him either.
He was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
