Famous singer and Idols SA runner-up Thami Shobede was pronounced dead by the Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria after four days in coma on Thursday morning. He was only 31.
His record label Gallo Record Company confirmed the singer had died suffering complications caused by his illness.
“It came to our attention this morning that he was in hospital suffering from an illness and complications. His family went to see him in Atteridgeville hospital, where he passed away some time just before noon this morning,” Gallo Record stated.
“The singer with the velvet voice and Season 12 Idols SA runner up was only 31 years of age. We don’t have any other specific details or facts at this time, and kindly request that everybody please respect the wishes of Thami’s family who will be issuing a formal statement shortly.”
The record expressed their condolences to Shobede’s family and all of his friends.
It has become known that Shobede was taken to hospital allegedly after falling during a performance at the weekend. An undisclosed source told the media his organs had failed and he slipped into a coma on Tuesday.
