Two cows were slaughtered and chopped up into pieces while the students of Fort Hare University were protesting. Numerous people were caught on camera chasing down a cow, just moments before butchering it, the university officials reported.
It happened during the ongoing violent protests at the Alice campus on Wednesday. On the cellphone footage circulating on social media, the students are seen chasing the animal around the campus.
The last frame of the video is an image of a dead cow covered in stab wounds. After the incident, the students boasted that they had butchered the cattle while carrying away meat from the carcass.
National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funding related issues allegedly became the main reason that forced the students to start their protests.
