Tourist from Germany survives after falling 70m into ravine at Lisbon Falls

A German woman has suffered a tremendous ordeal having slipped and fallen into a deep ravine at Lisbon Falls in Mpumalanga on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Martin Jeffrey, the tourist had been eventually lifted to the surface without any further incidents. She had rib fractures but was in a stable condition when the rescuers retrieved her out of the ravine late on Wednesday night.

In order to assess the tourist’s condition before the rescue, a medic was lowered down the ravine.

“Paramedics were not able to get to her on foot and had to wait for rope technicians to arrive,” Jeffrey claimed.
