The police of Port Elizabeth opened an inquiry into the Friday’s car crash that had claimed the life of a 2-year-old boy. The vehicle the child was traveling in with his parents overturned on the N9 just outside Graaff-Reinet.
The fatal accident happened at around 3:00am on the N9 between Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet, just 20km away from Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape traffic department spokesperson Charles Bramwell announced.
The family with their little child was heading to the Eastern Cape from the Western Cape travelling in their VW Polo. Trying to evade a kudu, which suddenly appeared on the road, the driver lost control of his vehicle. The car had veered off the road and then rolled over several times, fatally injuring the child.
The parents were hospitalised.
The local authorities were on the scene working to clarify the circumstances of the tragic incident.
