Drive-by shooting in Umkomaas: taxi owner gunned down

Multiple gunshot wounds caused the death of a young and well-loved by the community taxi owner in Umkomaas on Friday morning.

35-year-old Bobo Harriar was reportedly driving when another vehicle overtook his taxi in the vicinity of the Spar in Calendula Avenue, Craigieburn. According to the witnesses, the suspects fired at least ten shots at the victim.

Harriar died on the scene succumbing to his injuries.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of murder had been opened.

“It is alleged that a taxi owner was shot and killed this morning. The motive for the shooting is not known,” he declared. “The case is still under investigation.”
