The KwaZulu-Natal police have reported an overwhelming incident in which a woman, while attempting to get rid of her new-born baby boy, threw the child from the window in Verulam, north of Durban.
According to police Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the woman had allegedly delivered at her workplace on Saturday, August 10, and after a while, just threw away the infant. The 3.9kg boy plunged three metres and landed in a bush near the business premises in Verulam, north of Durban.
Fortunately, the baby escaped injuries after falling and is now getting an appropriate care in hospital.
The woman was to stand trial in the Verulam Magistrates’ Court on August 12, 2019. The case was postponed to August 16.
