A 4-year-old boy died in a house fire after his parents had allegedly had an argument and the father stabbed the boy’s mother at their home in Hashvalley, the Northern Cape on Sunday evening, the provincial police department informed. The mother of the deceased boy had escaped the scene with her two children.
“After the father stabbed the mother with a knife, she succeeded to flee with two of the children to her sister’s house, from where they managed to call the police. The suspect, however, got hold of the one child, a four-year-old boy,” police spokesperson Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba explained.
It is supposed that the father had set the house alight before the police officers arrived. Upon their arrival at the burning house, they saw the members of the community already trying to put out the fire.
After the blaze had been put out, the neighbours discovered the burnt body that belonged to the 4-year-old child.
The man is still on the run. He is wanted for questioning by the police at Kakamas.
