A shooting ensued after an alleged robbery had claimed the lives of two – an off-duty cop and a one civilian – on Sunday in Johannesburg.
The initial report says the double-murder happened at a place of entertainment in Vlakfontein, south of Johannesburg. JMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed the incident saying the police officer along with the Joburg resident had been shot and killed during an alleged robbery.
At this stage, the most obvious motive for the shootout and the subsequent killing is the robbery.
The JMPD launched a manhunt for five suspects who had fled the scene in a white Ford Laser.
The total damage is yet unknown. No arrests have been made.
