The specialists have recovered the remains of a man who went missing after a canoe had capsized in the Durban Harbour.
The boat overturned in the waters between Esplanade sandbank and Central sandbank on Friday, when three local residents on board were searching for a good spot to pump crackers.
One of the victims had managed to swim safely to the shore before the NSRI rescue boat arrived at the scene, while another man had been rescued by a private vessel. The third man, however, was nowhere to be found.
It took four days for the services to finally locate his lifeless body and recover it from the water. It was later handed to the local police for investigation.
The SAPS members continue to determine the circumstances of the case.
