Seven family members died after their house had caught fire in the Eastern Cape.
According to police spokesperson Brig Tembinkosi Kinana, the officers received the report at around 4am.
The investigation indicates that a 56-year-old woman and her children, aged between 3 and 28, were asleep when the incident happened.
“As they went to investigate, they discovered that the house was burning. None of the people could be rescued at the time.”
The reports came from two neighbours who had heard the screams.
The identities of the deceased are withheld until their relatives are informed.
The police urge anyone possessing the information about the incident to contact the nearest police station.
