The police officers are searching for the suspects who murdered a man and his dog while robbing a house in Soshanguve Extension 2.
According to police spokesperson Constable Portia Sebone, the reports about the incident were received by the police at around 3am. The officers found the man with two wounds to his upper body and the dog that had been shot in the head.
The man was declared dead on the scene. The dog was still alive when the police arrived at the scene.
“A veterinarian attended to the dog. There were signs the dog had also been poisoned. In light of the dog’s suffering, the most humane thing to do was to euthanise it,” SPCA Tshwane spokesperson Elsa Daniels advised.
The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and two cellphones. Another person escaped the robbery unharmed.
