First solo jump almost kills novice skydiver in FS

A 40-year-old man, who had decided to commit his life to skydiving, almost died after his first solo jump.

According to the reports, the resident had a hard landing at a farm between Deneysville and Refengkgotso in the Free State province.

The health services received a call from a witness of the incident and speedily sent an ambulance to the scene. As it turned out, the novice skydiver had only minor injuries.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a 40-year-old male skydiver on his first solo jump sustained an injury to his ankle,” Shawn Herbst, a spokesperson for Netcare, stated, adding that the victim had been treated and transported to hospital.
