Two men have been arrested for allegedly murdering their grandparents in Thaba Nchu.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Martin Xuma, the suspects, aged 18 and 30, were detained by the police officers in Palm Ridge. One of them was apprehended at the end of May. The second was only arrested on July 5.
The men allegedly murdered Mantwa Sebotso, 71, and Lethakong Sebotso, 74. The victims were found dead at their house in Moroka. After killing the couple, the suspects set the house alight.
“Upon arrival, police summoned the fire department and after the fire was extinguished police found two bodies. The body of a 71-year-old grandmother Mantwa Sebotso, was found in the kitchen and that of her 74-year-old husband Lethakong Sebotso was found at the sitting room,” Xuma explained.
The suspects made their appearance in the Thaba Nchu Magistrates’ Court but the matter was postponed to August 7 for further investigation.
