The police have rearrested five stock thieves, who escaped the custody in the Eastern Cape on Monday. However, one more criminal from the group is still at large.
“The escapees were [initially] arrested for stock theft, residence burglary and [common assault],” police spokesperson Captain Raphael Motloung stated.
The criminals, aged 21 to 24, managed to get away from the law enforcement units when they appeared in the building of the Ntabankulu Magistrates’ Court.
It took three days for officers to determine the perpetrators’ whereabouts and uncover their hideout.
Motloung cautioned the community members against attempting to arrest the sixth person by themselves as the man posed a high threat and was described as ‘dangerous’.
