Robbers gun down Elsies River mother who recently became millionaire

Elsies River woman has been shot dead by a group of criminals after she refused to give them her millions.

Lorretta Rubain, the 42-year-old mother of four, previously made a third party claim and received R2.6 million drawing the attention of the criminals.

She was playing with her daughter and son inside a council flat in Springbok Place on Wednesday when two perpetrators came in. After they had heard Rubain’s refusal, one of the gangsters pulled a pistol and shot her in the chest, just in front of the children.

The woman succumbed to the fatal injuries in minutes.

“Our detectives are following up on all possible leads to bring the perpetrators to book,” police spokesperson Siyabulela Malo confirmed, adding that no arrests had been made so far.

It is reported, it was not the first attack on the woman. Several weeks ago, another group attempted to rob her of the money and also opened fire but Rubain and her family were unharmed.
