Teargas fired during protests in Nigeria

The police have fired teargas at protesting Shi’a group in Nigeria’s capital Abuja.

Several hundred people started protesting outside the government building. They demanded the release of their leader. During the protests, two people died and 40 were detained.

The officers had to fire teargas to disperse the crowds as the protesters were throwing stones at them.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria stated they would continue the protests until their leader was released from detention.
