A Polokwane man convicted of killing an elderly woman with an axe will spend the rest of his life behind bars as he was sentenced to life imprisonment plus extra fifteen years for committed robbery and eight years for housebreaking with an intent to rob.
The perpetrator identified as Justice Mathume Tshehla, aged 51, is said to have hacked to death an 81-year-old woman, Betty Phaswane Mosehla, on September 17, 2017 in Vergelegen near Burgersfort. It is known that the incident happened at 3:33am when the man broke into the victim’s house and assaulted the owner.
The villain had already fled the scene when the police officers arrived. They discovered Mosehla’s body with multiple injuries lying on a floor in her bedroom in a pool of her own blood.
According to police spokesperson Cst Maphure Manamela, after an initial assessment, the police figured out the suspect had broken into the house of this elderly woman while she had been asleep and hacked her to death before robbing her of a TV set and clothes.
