Two pit bulls mauled 13yo girl in Asherville

Two enraged pit bulls mauled a 13-year-old girl on Monday in Asherville, Durban. The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) officers who were patrolling the area came to the teen’s help and shot down one of the animals.

“SAPS is on the scene where one of the dogs has been killed. The second dog has fled the scene,” Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson confirmed.

The Rescue Care paramedics responded to the incident scene at the corner of Stanley Copley Drive and Crocus Road near the Asherville Library.

It is believed the assaulted girl was walking down the road when two pit bulls ran up to her and started to bite her. She had sustained serious injuries and needed advanced life support intervention to stabilise her before the paramedics were able to transport her to hospital.

The authorities are still on the scene looking into the matter.
