Transport minister Fikile Mbalula’s today’s visit in Cape Town has been saddened by the death of two middle aged women fatally struck by a train near Nyanga station.
According to the reports, the high profile official was due to depart towards the main city in the province, when the passengers heard about the train delay.
Initially the main reason of such measures was considered to be ‘wire theft’ but later it was revealed that two female residents had been killed while crossing the railway.
“The circumstances surrounding the deaths of two women in their 30s are being investigated after they were struck by a train close to the Nyanga railway station this morning. Death inquest case dockets have been registered,” police spokesperson Lt-Col Andrè Traut explained in a statement.
The police authorities continue to probe the matter.
