KwaZulu-Natal private rescue service officials confirmed that their personnel had retrieved a newborn baby from a bush in Phoenix, north of Durban, on Tuesday. The abandoned child was dumped on a roadside of Schoolside Crescent.
According to KZN VIP Medical and Rescue spokesperson Gareth Naidoo, the locals called for help after they had heard the baby crying.
The rescuers found the newborn baby girl wrapped in a piece of clothing. The child was in a satisfactory condition.
She is now in Mahatma Gandhi Hospital under medical supervision.
