Gauteng police officers have arrested a 34-year-old woman. She was caught in possession of four assault rifles and 344 rounds of ammo in Boksburg.
The woman was apprehended on Friday. According to Boksburg police spokesperson Constable Justice Ramaube, the arrest was made by the Boksburg North Trio Task Team and Benoni Tracing Team.
“When arrested, the woman failed to give a satisfactory explanation to the police, though she claimed that the bag containing guns was left by a long known friend renting in the same shack they lived in,” he stated.
The firearms were allegedly used during the house robberies. The police are looking for the second suspect believed to be the mastermind of the crimes. An investigation is under way.
The suspect is expected to make her appearance in court.
