A 60-year-old woman was shot dead by two housebreakers in Ngqamakhwe in the Eastern Cape on Sunday evening.
Two suspected killers were announced wanted by Eastern Cape police after the elderly woman had been found dead in front of her house at about 08:00pm.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha suggested that the two men had entered the woman’s home “as if they wanted a room to rent as there are some flats at the homestead which are rented by tenants”.
“The two men requested to speak to the woman outside the house. Once they were outside the house, one of them pulled his firearm and fatally wounded the woman,” Manatha stated.
The woman is said to have sustained several gunshots to her upper body.
The motive for the murder remains unclear.
