Zimbabwean accused of rape and murder appeared in PE High Court

A truly blood chilling story was told on Thursday in the Port Elizabeth High Court. The victim accused a Zimbabwean national of killing her boyfriend, kidnapping and raping her, and stabbing her sister.

Trust Tofa is currently serving a 12-year sentence at St Albans Prison for robbery with aggravating circumstances and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. However, it didn’t stop him from threatening his ex-girlfriend to kill her once he would be released from custody.

The woman testified that Tofa broke into her house while she was asleep with her boyfriend and beat him to death with an iron rod in a fit of rage. When her sister attempted to stop Tofa by throwing boiling water at him, he stabbed her several times with a knife.

The perpetrator then kidnapped his ex-girlfriend taking her to a shack in Motherwell. After raping her twice, he allegedly punched her aiming at her stomach. As she had been 6 month pregnant at the time, three days later the child was born prematurely.

Tofa denied hitting or raping the State witness, even when the DNA evidence was brought forth. He is facing charges of murder, housebreaking, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, kidnapping and rape.

The trial continues.
