Five suspects were identified by Ga-Rankuwa police after they had reportedly ambushed a passenger bus transporting a number of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) students. The suspects are at large.
A group of five men is said to have stoned the bus travelling to TUT on Friday last week. Then, the victims and the driver were taken hostage at gunpoint. The students were apparently ordered to hand over their cellphones, cash and laptops before the perpetrators fled the scene on foot, according to police spokesperson Captain Mathews Nkoadi.
“All of the suspects are known and a case of armed robbery is being investigated,” he said.
Nkoadi asked anyone with the information which could lead to the arrest of the culprits to call the police at 08 600 10111 or send a SMS at 32211.
