Vryheid guard sentenced after CIT robbery

An ex-cash guard has made his appearance in court more than a year after the robbery. Mbuyiseni Mthembu has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars.

It is reported that a group of robbers attacked cash-in-transit guards at the Vryheid Fidelity depot in KwaZulu-Natal. The criminals managed to escape the scene with the money.

The stolen money amounted to R12 million.

According to Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo, the unit busted two suspects.

Khohlwezakhe Majozi and Robert Nzama were granted bail R30,000 each, they are now on the run.
