Polokwane cell phone store failed robbery: owners take looters down

In a video posted via Facebook, a group of balaclava-wearing men were trying to rob a foreign-owned cellphone store but have been repulsed by its owners who were not afraid to confront the offenders and took the situation in their own hands.

“It occurred in the Polokwane CBD and that one suspect was arrested and a firearm recovered,” police spokesperson Col Moashe Ngoepe confirmed the incident.

He claimed that there were three burglars. One was arrested, two fled the scene. They are still on the run.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon in the Polokwane CBD, Intelligence Bureau SA’s Facebook page says.

The wannabe robbers were ordering shoppers and store owners to lie down on the floor when one of the “victims” suddenly grabbed the culprits, steered them to a corner and started to beat them up with the help of the visitors.
