3 more suspects may be convicted in ‘Krugersdorp killers’ case

The State wants conviction of three more suspects in connection to the so-called “Krugersdorp Killers” case.

According to State Prosecutor Gerrit Roberts SC, among the new murderers are Zack Valentine, 35, Marcel Steyn, 21, and her mother, Marinda Steyn, — all of them were allegedly involved in a series of killings that had occurred between 2012 and 2016. In total, 11 people were murdered.

The law-enforcement services have evidence that the group was masterminded by Cecilia Steyn, 38, while Marcel — who is not related to her — had been living in Cecilia’s house for a long period of time, idolising her as a prophet and serving as a foot soldier in the enterprise.

At the same time, Marinda Steyn was managing the crime gang with the help from her fellow Valentine.

The three accused have already appeared in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg pleading not guilty to the incidents.
