The video making its rounds on social media has captured a driver of a white bakkie beating up another man after their vehicles had collided on Sunday afternoon in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape. The motorist fled the scene and is now wanted for assault and causing grievous bodily harm, according to police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender.
As it can be seen on the video, the assailant from the white double-cab bakkie hits the victim on his head several times while pressing the man up against the vehicle. While the victim tries to block the punches, the assailant throws him to the ground. Then the bakkie driver gets back to his car and the man on the ground gets up, so the road rage altercation continues.
The bakkie driver then rams into the back of the Toyota Tazz that was in front of his car pushing it out of the way and flees.
“The owner of the Tazz opened a case on Monday. At first, it was a case of assault to cause grievously bodily harm, but it has been changed to common assault,” Govender said.
No arrests have been made by the time of publication.
