West Rand police department announced another case of an assault on farm owners. Police have launched a manhunt for five alleged suspects accused of a series of crimes including rape and grievous bodily harm.
During the farm assault at about 05:30am on Monday in Westonaria, a 17-year-old girl, the farm owner’s daughter, was raped in front of her dad.
Allegedly, the 55-year-old victim was about to take his daughter to school when five masked men confronted them outside the farmhouse and forced them inside. They raped the girl and struck her father over his head with a heavy object.
The assailants fled the scene on the farm owner’s silver-grey Ford Ranger and stole his firearms from the house.
Luckily, the victims are alive. They were found in critical condition and rushed to hospital to receive medical and psychological assistance. Their vehicle was later recovered in the Zenzele informal settlement near Daveyton.
“The District Trio Task Team is investigating a case of house robbery, attempted murder and rape,” West Rand district commissioner Major General Fred Kekana claimed.
