Artful crime: two women disguised as men robbed Eswatini bank

A joint effort of South African Police Service of Mpumalanga and Royal Eswatini Police resulted in an arrest of two female culprits who had robbed a bank under the disguise of men in neighbouring Eswatini.

The “brazen” robbery was committed on May 8 when two “male” suspects with firearms broke into the bank. The accomplices, aged 27 and 32, ordered the bank manager to “fill a big bag with cash” while holding a teller and a security guard hostage

“The woman and an alleged accomplice, also a woman, involved in an elaborate bank heist plot are expected to appear in the Eerstehoek Magistrate’ Court on Friday after they were found in possession of suspected stolen cash,” police spokesperson Brig Leonard Hlathi confirmed.
