The Simon’s Town Magistrates Court has decided to postpone Witsand surfer’s murder case due to the lack of evidence gathered, which means one man arrested in connection with the crime will stay behind bars until the next hearing.
Ocean View police detectives believe that the detained resident together with his accomplice allegedly gunned down the sportsman and placed his body in the boot of his car before driving off. While the victim was still inside the vehicle, they put it on fire and fled the scene.
One alleged perpetrator was soon handcuffed by the policemen and charged with possession of an illegal firearm, ammunition, and the victim’s car keys. The judge denied his bail application and postponed the case until 21 May.
The incident occurred last weekend, however, the second hijacker has not been found yet.
