Four armed gangsters who masked their faces with balaclavas have committed an attack on the Kapteinsdrift farm on Monday, the police say.
The officers were alerted by Mrs. Tool Wessel, the farm owner’s wife, who managed to escape the scene with a serious stab injury and the burns on her back. The woman ran away from the perpetrators during the first minutes of the attack and found a hideout at the neighbors’ house.
Upon arrival, the Cape Town police discovered a body of her husband, lying in a river approximately 200m from the farm.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the circumstances surrounding the murder and attempted murder are being investigated. He added no arrests have been made yet.
