The police officers were deeply shocked by a blood-curdling discovery in KwaZulu-Natal when they responded to the call of local residents and arrived at the scene.
A body of a teenage girl, aged 15, with her head cut off was found by children in KwaMiya on Thursday last week. An alleged killer dumped the girl’s body in a donga (a ravine).
“They alerted the elders about their discovery,” Zululand Police Cluster spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala advised.
The authorities identified the victim as Nomvelo Nkosi, a Grade 7 pupil at KwaMiya Primary School in Nongoma.
It is reported that Nomvelo was last seen at about 15:00 walking out of school. The police say she planned to visit a relative at Matshempunzi Reserve.
The authorities are on alert searching for the suspect or anyone with information about the circumstances of the crime.
