Yesterday, a bus overturned near KwaCeza. It was bringing the mourners from the funeral of 13 people who died after Pentecostal Holiness Church building had collapsed in Ndlangubo, north of Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal province on Thursday night.
“We are informed that 10 people sustained serious injuries from the bus accident, and 42 had minor injuries. We wish them all a speedy and full recovery,” KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo confirmed.
According to Dhlomo, 7 Intermediate Life Support Paramedics, 6 Basic Life Support paramedics, 2 Emergency Support Vehicles, and 1 rescue response vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
“We would like to commend our KZN health Emergency Medical Services staff for stabilising and transporting these patients, and the doctors and nurses at Ceza and Nkonjeni hospitals, who received them and swiftly provided medical attention. All our EMS personnel applied themselves fully, stabilising those who were seriously injured, before transferring them to hospital,” he stated.
It is reported that several victims of the bus crash had already been released, the others were still in hospitals receiving further treatment.
